PetSmart Giveaway! #InspiredbyCraft Hill's Ideal Balance

Hayley's continued good health fully depends on her food
This post is sponsored by Hill’s. I am being compensated for helping spread the word about Hill’s® Ideal Balance® CRAFTED, but Some Puppy To Love only shares information we feel is relevant to our readers. Hill’s Pet Nutrition, Inc. is not responsible for the content of this article.

I was watching a movie last night in which a couple went to a Japanese restaurant. It was one of the places where the chef cooks everything right in front of you. I often wish that we could see up close and personal exactly what goes into  all our food and our dogs' food.

Well, if you feed your dog Hill's Ideal Balance™ Crafted® pet foods, you will actually do know specifically what is in it. All Hill's products are made in the U.S. from only natural ingredients with no corn, wheat or soy, which is something most dog owners seek out when purchasing food. In addition, their cooking process is clear, slow, and wholesome.

Django is the pickiest dog I've ever had
Like me, the parents of picky eaters (our black lab Django is nearly as finicky as a cat!) will appreciate that so many considerations were made when developing this new food:

—Texture: new cooking processes, such oven roasting dog dry kibble were employed

—Cooking Process: since not mass produced, the process can be managed with more attention and care to lock in flavor and nutrition

— Wet Food: new technology implemented on the wet food helped to deliver forms and textures (such as shredded in gravy-like human stir fry)

—Key Word-Slow!: slower, small batch process ensures quality and consistency

Since writing about this new dog food, family, friends, and readers have asked me exactly how it’s cooked, so here is the low-down.

For the oven roasted dry dog food and treats, once the dough is rolled out, each kibble is carefully cut out and looked over to make sure they’re just right. These special kibbles are then baked at 400 degrees until they’re cooked just right.

The wet dog food is gently cooked and the meat, gravy and vegetables are mixed into a delicious stew. Then it’s canned and slow-cooked at 250 degrees to lock in flavor and nutrition. Years of taste research ensure the taste of each bite.

Thinking about trying some? The folks at Hills Science are sponsoring a giveaway for a $300 gift card to a Pet Specialty Store (PetSmart). Giveaway ends June 30th . Just click here to enter!

10 Strangest Items Swallowed By Dogs

My mother’s Schnauzer mix, Sha Sha, eats just about anything.  I didn’t quite believe just how often she would quickly snap up everything in her sight until a few weeks ago when she swallowed a quarter and a nickel in the blink of an eye. The vet advised my mother to watch her for the next few days as the coins would likely pass. It’s a very common issue among dog owners and it doesn’t only happen with puppies. The majority of dogs do grow out of the need to eat inedible objects. It can be difficult to pinpoint exactly what a puppy would eat so it’s best to be vigilant about where you dog is allowed to freely roam. Many dogs and puppies have been known to swallow seemingly unsuitable items, which  you might not find in any way enticing or preferable, but they do. Check out this list of the strangest things swallowed by dogs as witnessed by the  ASPCA :

What to Do if You Find a Stray Dog

Dogs are part of the family. The unique personalities and characteristics our dogs possess are irreplaceable, and it can be heart-breaking to lose their company. Stray dogs are a growing problem in the United States, and a majority of these strays are forced to wander the dangerous streets or begin a new life in an animal shelter. Learning how to properly bring a stray dog to safety is vital for your safety, as well as the stray’s safety. When trying to care for a stray, safety is always first. It is easy to become swept up in emotions when you see a stray dog hurt or in a dangerous situation — like running in traffic.   Even if you have good intentions, it is important to consider all options before taking action to keep the situation from becoming even more hazardous. There are numerous ways to encounter a stray dog, but the most common scenarios are on foot or in vehicular traffic. Remaining calm is the key to keeping a clear mind and deciding the best option for the st
