5 Tips For Adopting A Puppy

Founded in 2006 by pet lifestyle expert, animal behaviorist, and author, Colleen Paige, National Puppy Day is dedicated to bringing the acre and protection of puppies into focus. This year, National Puppy Day falls on March 23. Consequently, this day and month leads to many adoption fairs. Of course, one of the biggest concern regarding puppies is the illegal operation of puppy mills. (Learn more about  why we need to help put an end to horrific puppy mills  once and for all.) One important way to put a stop to puppy mills is to never buy a puppy. Rather anyone who would like to give a puppy a home should go to their nearest animal shelter and adopt. Keep in mind, too many animal shelters are not no-kill, meaning they do, in fact, euthanize their dogs that are not adopted. What Pet Owners Spend Money On: A Breakdown

Ever wonder what pet bloggers spend on their own pets? Pet 360 collected information from pet bloggers and compiled it all into the infographic below. Two things resonate quite a bit with me. After all, who is more agreeable and loving than your precious pooch? Probably no one! Here are ten ways your dog is more fun than your spouse at Babble Pets!

The Shame Game: Why It Doesn’t Work In Dogs

It’s a statement I’ve heard to many times before.  An owner will come home to find a chewed up shoe or a big puddle on the floor and utter something similar to this:  “Then I took him right over to the puddle and said ‘bad dog, what did you do’. He knew he did wrong because  he looked so guilt y.” And here is the honest, scientific truth: He or she has absolutely no idea what he/she did was wrong!  The poor pup is just reacting to the owner’s tone and possibly anger. It is a faulty way of disciplining because the dog is not learning a thing. Read the full story at Babble Pets...
